Community Service
Each year the Burlington Concert Band puts on two charity fundraiser events:
- Spring Concert and Dance - May
- Sounds of Christmas Concert - early December
The concerts are presented in partnership with the Hamilton Spectator, and
raise money for various causes. Past concerts have raised money for the Hamilton
Spectator ,
the Joseph Brant Hospital, and Performing Arts
Burlington.
We have also performed at various other charity events, as a full concert band and as small sectional ensembles.

The Burlington Concert Band performed at Heritage Place Retirement Community on July 19, 2010 and July 25, 2011.
The Burlington Concert Band boasts a few small ensembles from within its ranks, one of which is the BURLINGTON FLUTE ENSEMBLE. This group was formed after the band received a Trillium grant to purchase new instruments, including an alto flute and a bass flute, both of which are used in the flute ensemble. A small amount of music for the group was initially purchased, but with the number of engagements the group received, it was soon necessary to look for more music. However, the bass and alto flutes are instruments composers rarely write for, so it became necessary for one of the group members to write parts for these two instruments from existing flute ensemble music; the internet also became a valuable resource. The result is that the group now has a truly unique sound, soft and haunting, which is very suitable for small rooms or small gatherings. The Burlington Flute Ensemble has performed at many such venues during the past two years, including Heritage Place, The Village of Tansley Woods Retirement Homes, Ireland House Museum, Spencer Smith Art Market, Riverwood Art Centre (Mississauga), and the Burlington Garden Tour, many of which are becoming regular venues. The group also plays frequently at the Burlington Concert Band concerts, throughout the year.
The style of music the group plays includes Classical, Popular, Christmas and Folk music. The group is already booking for Fall and Christmas 2009 and welcomes new venues. To book this group for your special event, call Lynda Eady at 905-335-2109 or burlingtonfluteensemble@gmail.com
